Countdown to Departure Day

Day 3 - Day of the Double Oval

I was just about to have a refreshing dip after a hot day out in Bridgetown but the local Over 60s Aquafit Club has commandeered our hotel pool and seems to be engaged in creating some sort of Tsunami! So I guess it's a Banks beer and a bit of blogging.

Lucky Phil joins the Aquafit class!

First things first - the Tour has today been mentioned on the LCB website

Onto the day's Tour activity - the lads and most of the "Supporters Group" have had a cricketing day out with a visit to the Kensington Oval Test ground in Bridgetown, where we were given a guided tour, and this was followed by a picnic lunch at the 3Ws Oval at The University of West Indies where we were able to watch the Windies squad train for their forthcoming ODI matches against Pakistan. The lads were addressed by Windies Coach, Ottis Gibson, and were even able to chat to a couple of the players including the ultra-cool Dwayne Bravo. Thanks to Jonathan Partington for getting this sorted as he called on his friendship with Ottis from the time they spent playing in the Bolton League some years back.

 Tour Party at Kensington Oval

Looks a bit like the opening scene from a spaghetti western -"4 Coaches for Hire"
Anders, Leighton, Partington and Ottis Gibson strut menacingly across the 3Ws Oval
Ottis Gibson talks to the Lancs players about tactics. Shaun Anders looks bewildered as he'd always thought Tac-tics were those little white minty things!

It's now back to game preparation as the next match takes place tomorrow (Friday) against and at the Foundation School. As the weather gets hotter the team will again be facing a tough challenge!
